Duties and Responsibilities (Safety and Health Officer)

 

  1. To advise the employer or any person in charge of a place of work on the measures to be taken in the interests of the safety and health of the persons employed in the place of work.
  2. To inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliance or process or any description of manual labor used in the place of work, is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work.
  3. To investigate any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning, or occupational disease which has happened in the place of work.
  4. To assist the employer or the safety and health committee, if any, pursuant to regulation 11 of the occupational safety and health (safety and health committee) regulations 1996 [p.u.(a) 616/96] in organizing and implementing occupational safety and health programme at the place of work.
  5. To become secretary to the safety and health committee, if any, as specified under sub regulation 6(2) of the occupational safety and health (safety and health committee) regulations 1996 and perform all functions of a secretary as specified in that regulations.
  6. To assist the safety and health committee in any inspection of the place of work for the purpose of checking the effectiveness and efficacy of any measures taken in compliance with the act or any regulations made under the act.
  7. To collect, analyze and maintain statistics on any accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning, and occupational disease which have occurred at the place of work.
  8. To assist any officer in carrying out his duty under the act or any regulations made under the act; and
  9. To carry out any other instruction made by the employer or any other person in charge of the place of work on any matters pertaining to safety and health of the place of work.

 

Others

  1. Monitoring on the appointment of OSH committee and OSH Sub-committee
  2. Liaison with OSH Sub Committee in disseminating information or regulatory requirement on occupational safety and health at workplace
  3. Monitoring the appointment of Floor Marshals at Menara Bank Islam
  4. Coordinate with Bank Islam Floor Marshals with building manager on Fire Drill and Evacuation Drill exercise
  5. Identify and develop or source training programs for the staffs to meet the needs of OSH Programs, awareness, and initiative to pursue OSH awareness and excellence.
  6. Assist responding and act on audit findings by Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) for Branches, Outlets and HQ.
  7. Submit report JKKP 8 to DOSH on yearly basis and submit incident/accident report JKKP 6 and investigation report to DOSH
  8. Provide technical expertise, skills, and knowledge to ensure that Banking operations are adequately supported to achieve DOSH compliance
  9. Develop, maintain, review, and implement OSH system documentation i.e., policy, manuals, procedures, and instructions.
  10. Draft the OSH news or any relevant issues regarding OSH to Corporate Communication to be broadcasted to all staff
  11. Dimension - Cover mainly Menara Bank Islam, supporting all branches/outlets (OSH issues/matters).

 

Qualification

  1. Degree in Environmental & Occupational Safety & Health
  2. Registered with DOSH as OYKSHO (previously known as Green Book holder)

Years of Experience

  1. 5 years’ experience
