Summary
- This person will be responsible for conducting all audit and non-audit Shariah engagements for entities of Bank Islam and its subsidiaries.
- This person will be responsible for conducting all Shariah related special engagements, regulatory or non-regulatory.
- This person will be responsible for conducting all audit and non-audit engagements for all credit/investment related entities including but not limited to the following entities.
- BIMB Securities Sdn Bhd and its subsidiaries.
- BIMB Investment Management Bhd.
- Bank Islam Labuan Offshore Branch (BILOB).
- Bank Islam Trust Ltd (BITL).
Detailed
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit in developing an Annual Audit Plan (AP) before the start of the financial year, specifying the auditable areas (split into mandatory and non-mandatory), resources required and duration.
- Develop the audit planning for the assigned audits through the Audit Management System (AMS). Audit planning should demonstrate a clear understanding of the business environment, overall audit objectives, and audit scope/ focus areas, audit methodology, perform risk assessment (i.e. identify risk exposures and its corresponding controls) and etc.
- Ensure pre-audit activities such as preparation and completion of audit introduction letter, audit engagement details, and audit programs were in order before commencement of each audit.
- Lead, supervise and conduct audits and review team members’ audit work.
- Obtain and file adequate audit evidence. Obtain third party confirmation if necessary. Evidence must be sufficient, reliable, relevant and useful.
- Document all audit findings/ observations clearly with criteria, condition, root cause, risk level and recommendation. Management response is to obtain from auditees.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit in reviewing Shariah related audit findings/ observations made by other audit units and ensure consistency. This includes to obtain further information and views from the Shariah Division, Shariah Risk Management and Shariah Compliance Department concerning the Shariah matters.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit to brief the Group Chief Internal Auditor (GCIA) and to obtain his views or direction on the team’s audit findings/ observations prior to the exit meeting.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit in planning and leading the discussion of audit exit meetings.
- Ensure proper and adequate audit working papers are kept and submitted to Head of Shariah Audit for audit checking.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit to finalize and follow-up on all audit observations. Ensure material deficiencies are followed up until they are fully resolved.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit to prepare a comprehensive Audit Report and Management Letter (ML). Audit Report needs to be objective, clear, concise, constructive, persuasive, results-oriented and timely.
- Ensure professionalism, objectivity, integrity and ethics are maintained at all times.
- Ensure proper completion of post audit activities including review and approval of Audit Programs, assessment of team members’ performance and submission of duly completed working papers together with the audit report.
- Attend internal/ external training as volunteered or nominated by the GCIA and conduct debriefing to the Group Internal Audit staff within 30 days.
- Assist Head of Shariah Audit to provide assessment on Shariah related Business Continuity (BC) readiness.
- Ensure adherence and compliance with all internal policies/ guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
Qualification, Specific Skills / Knowledge and Certification Required
- Certification for Banking Auditors (CBA) or equivalent is a must.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is preferred.
- Certified Shariah Advisor (CSA)/ Certified Shariah Practitioner (CSP) is preferred.
- Chartered/ Master Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP/ MIFP) is preferred.
- Certified Professional Shariah Auditor (CPSA) is preferred.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA) or Masters is preferred
- Degree in any related discipline, i.e. accounting, Islamic
- At least 3 years audit and Shariah experience in Islamic Banking sector.
- Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skill
- Good business process acumen.
- Good leadership, supervisory and technical audit/risk management skills to lead an audit team.
- In-depth experience in banking operations.
- Well developed ability to analyze processes to determine the real causes for control and strategic deficiencies.
- An assertive and dynamic team player, highly independent, committed, self-motivated, resourceful and result oriented.
- Experience of working in fast-moving business environment.
- Ability to network across a variety of functions at various levels.
- Ability to multi-task highly numerated with great attention to details.
