DevOps Engineer
Summary
Cloud/DevOps Engineer supports the day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure and DevOps tools within a regulated IT environment. This role focuses on assisting with cloud resource provisioning, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, monitoring system performance, and ensuring deployment consistency. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role offers hands-on exposure to AWS, automation, and secure cloud practices while contributing to service reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
- Design, deploy, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Manage core AWS services including VPCs, IAM, Transit Gateways, and Landing Zones.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and fault-tolerant architecture to support critical banking applications.
- CI/CD & DevOps Engineering
- Build and manage secure, automated CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, and AWS CodePipeline.
- Automate application deployments to EKS, ECS, and EC2 environments in alignment with DevSecOps principles.
- Security & Compliance
- Enforce IAM best practices, Security Groups, Service Control Policies (SCPs), and other guardrails.
- Ensure alignment with banking regulatory frameworks such as BNM/RMiT, APRA CPS 234, and internal compliance/audit requirements.
- Support implementation of logging, monitoring, and automated incident response mechanisms.
- Observability & Cost Optimization
- Configure observability tools including Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Fluent Bit, and Kinesis Firehose.
- Implement cost optimization strategies including resource tagging, budget enforcement, and Reserved/CUD instance planning.
- Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to migrate and modernize workloads within AWS.
- Participate in disaster recovery drills, patching activities, and change management processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment runbooks, and configuration details.
- General
- Responsible for complying with both IT Policies and Enterprise Information Security Policies
- Ensure adherence and compliance to all internal policies / guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
- Any other duty / assignment as and when directed / assigned by the superior as per operations/ business requirement from time to time.
Specific Skills/Knowledge and Certification Required
- Exposure to AWS services and basic scripting (e.g., Shell, Python) is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and container platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous but not required.
- Strong interest in cloud technology, automation, and IT security best practices.
