Job Description:
Summary
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Group’s business plan and budget, ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic goals, performance monitoring and forecast analysis.
- Oversee and lead the performance reporting, monitoring and in-depth analysis of the performance across Lines of Business and Support Units
- Lead the accounting and financial advisory function to ensure compliance with the financial reporting standards or regulatory requirements, partnering business to facilitate existing and new product and solutions review and development, corporate finance exercise, strategic initiatives execution and others where relevant
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Performance Analytics:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Group’s business plan and budget and forecast analysis, ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic goals
- Collaborate and partner with various departments across the Group to gather budget inputs and ensure comprehensive financial planning
- Monitor and conduct in-depth analyses of the monthly performance across Lines of Business / Units, providing variance analysis, identifying trends and providing actionable insights, and strategic recommendations including steps to be taken on periodic announcement/reporting.
- Effectively communicate monthly performance metrics and early warning indicators to stakeholders, ensuring that strategic priorities are clearly articulated and understood
- Address ad hoc requests from management and stakeholders related to performance reporting, providing timely insights that support decision-making
- Actively participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to enhance business outcomes
- Prepare strategic narratives and relevant comprehensive reports / analysis for presentations, translating complex financial data into actionable insights for diverse audiences
- Identify and implement strategic opportunities to enhance management reporting processes and methodology, promoting efficiency and effectiveness
Accounting and Financial advisory:
- Oversee and lead the accounting and financial analyst function, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller (GFC).
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the GFC, offering expert advice, guidance, and insights on financial matters, risks, and opportunities to ensure compliance with the financial reporting standards or regulatory requirements, partnering business to facilitate existing and new product and solutions review and development, corporate finance exercise, strategic initiatives execution and others where relevant
- Involved in discussions alongside GFC with external parties including authorities (LHDN, Kastam Diraja) and regulators where relevant
- Liaise with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to address diverse financial needs and requirements. Provide meaningful assessment to facilitate and address requirements from other divisions or external parties regarding accounting treatments and financial reporting
General:
- Undertake continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency and productivity of deliverables and execution
- Participate and undertake ad-hoc requirements and other finance-related duties or assignments as directed by superiors
- Lead a team in promoting professional growth and development and continuous improvement.
- Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies, guidelines, and external regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance
- Professional qualifications such as ICAEW / ACCA / CPA / CFA / MIA etc.
Years of Experience
- 5 years’ experience in external audit / assurance
- More than 10 years’ experience in the banking / financial service industry
- Experience in strategic management reporting and financial analysis
- Experience in corporate finance / advisory will be an added advantage
Specific Skills/Knowledge and Certification Required
- Proficiency in accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting. Ability to provide assessment and strategic financial advice and recommendations to senior management. Understanding of regulatory requirements, including BNM guidelines and other relevant regulations in relation to banking / financial institutions industry
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data into strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset focused on business outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholders’ engagement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Leadership skills to effectively manage and develop a team
- Project management capabilities, particularly in finance and banking industry related projects
