Job Description: 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Business Operations & Leadership:

    • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of SME business account portfolios to ensure efficient service delivery.
    • Lead, inspire, and support a dynamic team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and customer-centricity.
    • Coach and develop team members to deliver exceptional service quality to existing and potential customers.

 

  • Business Development & Strategy:

    • Develop and implement business development strategies to enhance product offerings and increase sales volumes, while improving the asset portfolio.
    • Stay informed on current political, economic, and market conditions, as well as industry developments, to drive business growth.

 

  • Portfolio Management & Sales:

    • Manage and grow the SME Banking division’s asset portfolio by focusing on maximizing wallet share, profitability, and revenue.
    • Monitor and manage sales and marketing processes for the division’s portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
    • Cultivate and nurture existing business relationships, identifying opportunities for growth and conducting timely account reviews.

 

  • Strategic Partnerships & Product Innovation:

    • Identify and explore strategic ventures, new business opportunities, and product/process improvements for existing offerings.
    • Recommend and facilitate collaborations with business stakeholders to drive the growth of Islamic Finance within the SME market segment.

 

  • Risk & Credit Management:

    • Approve financing proposals in line with risk appetite and ensure Non-Performing Loan (NPL) levels are maintained within acceptable limits.
    • Present credit proposals and other relevant documents to the appropriate financing/approving committees.

 

  • Relationship Management & Brand Building:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, business partners, and stakeholders to drive mutual growth.
    • Collaborate with external business development organizations to promote Bank Islam Malaysia’s brand and Islamic Finance offerings.
    • Represent the bank by effectively communicating the value of products and services to customers, stakeholders, and the public.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in banking, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing SME Banking portfolios or business development.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and portfolios within the banking sector, specifically in SME Banking.
  • Strong knowledge of the SME market landscape, economic conditions, and financial products.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic business plans, with a focus on growth and profitability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in liaising with senior executives, customers, and external organizations.
  • Experience in managing risk and making credit-related decisions within a banking environment.
