Summary

Overseeing the Enforcement and Surveillance Unit with a primary focus on ensuring that the control processes of the unit are effective and efficient, aligning with both the Group’s and regulatory requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist MLRO in meeting regulatory obligations by complying with the regulations in accordance with the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
  2. Act as the key liaison officer with LEAs to address issues related to requests and orders. This includes ensuring effective engagement of the Enforcement team with business units for LEA-related documents and information requests.
  3. Oversee the daily operations of the Surveillance Unit and ensure that adequate controls are in place to monitor and facilitate the timely submission of reports and statistics to regulators.

  5. Provide clarity and advisories to internal stakeholders regarding any matters related to the Enforcement and Surveillance function.
  6. Provide regular updates to Enforcement and Surveillance team members on any gaps or areas for enhancement in meeting regulators' expectations.
  7. Assess opportunities to improve Enforcement and Surveillance work processes, including the adoption of technology tools and process automation.
  8. Oversee the Enforcement and Surveillance function and strategize on the management of orders, alerts and internal STRs to ensure that reviews are conducted within the stipulated timeline, including submission of STRs.
  9. Ensure that all policies and standard operating procedures related to Enforcement and Surveillance are comprehensively and promptly updated.
  10. Stay updated on the latest regulatory developments, trends, and typologies to ensure that the Surveillance team's current work processes align with regulatory expectations.
  11. Ensure the competency and learning growth of Surveillance members in keeping up with regulatory updates and expectations. This includes mandating Surveillance members to enroll in training on evolving risk topics.
  12. Achieve a minimum satisfactory score for audits and lead any required improvement initiatives to address gaps or findings raised.
  13. Attend to ad-hoc assignments or projects assigned by superiors and effectively deliver within the stipulated timeline.
