Manager

Req ID:  7857
Job Description:

Summary

The Head of Business Innovation is responsible for the tactical execution of GIB’s business related digital strategy. Unlike a traditional project manager, this role requires a consultant-level analytical mindset to diagnose project-level issues, resolve cross-departmental bottlenecks, and provide high-fidelity reporting that enables the Director to make real-time, data-driven decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Execution & Delivery
  • Roadmap Operationalization: Take the high-level digital strategy provided by the Director and break it down into executable workstreams (e.g., AI Chatbot deployment, or API integrations).
  • Dependency Mapping: Identify and manage dependencies between IT, Risk, Legal, and Retail Banking units to ensure a smooth path to production.
  • Agile Orchestration: Facilitate squad-level progress, ensuring that "Innovation" doesn't get lost in "Business as Usual" (BAU) cycles.

  1. Project-Level Issue Analysis & Resolution
  • The "Surgical Fix": When a project hits a red flag, you are tasked with performing a deep-dive analysis. You won't just report the delay; you will identify the root cause (e.g., API documentation gaps, resource shortages, or compliance hurdles) and propose a solution.
  • Conflict Mediation: Act as a neutral party to resolve technical or priority conflicts between the development teams and business stakeholders.
  • Escalation Management: Filter and prioritize issues for the Director. Resolve 80% of project-level friction independently, escalating only the high-impact strategic blockers.

  1. Consultant-Level Reporting & Communication
  • The "Director’s Dashboard": Produce weekly "Consultant-Grade" reports that summarize project health, financial burn rates, and risk profiles.
  • Data Synthesis: Convert raw project data into actionable insights, options and recommendations to the Director.
  • Stakeholder Deck Creation: Draft high-quality presentation decks for the Management or Board meetings.
