Summary
The Senior Manager, Metadata Management is a critical role within the Data Governance department, responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a robust metadata management for the Bank. This role will lead a team to ensure the organization's metadata is accurate, complete, accessible, and aligned with business needs and data governance policies. This role will drive the development and adoption of metadata standards, processes, and tools, fostering a data-driven culture and enabling effective data discovery, understanding, and utilization. The role is expected to contribute to the overall development and execution of Bank’s data governance framework.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive metadata management strategy aligned with the overall data governance framework and business objectives.
  • Define and implement relevant metadata standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and evaluate metadata management solutions..
  • Create and maintain a metadata roadmap, prioritizing initiatives and aligning with business needs

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of metadata analyst.
  • Provide guidance and support to data owners and stewards on metadata management best practices.
  • Collaborate with data architects and data engineers to ensure metadata alignment with data architecture and business requirements.
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to integrate metadata management processes into existing workflows.
  • Promote a culture of data literacy and metadata awareness across the organization.
  • Coordinate with other data governance functions, like data quality, and data security.

Metadata Management Operations:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of a central metadata repository/catalog.
  • Oversee the collection, curation, and validation of metadata across various data sources.
  • Ensure Bank’s metadata accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Implement and manage metadata lineage tracking and impact analysis.
  • Establish and monitor metadata quality metrics and reporting.
  • Manage and maintain business glossary and technical data dictionary.

Tool and Technology Management:

  • Evaluate, select, and implement metadata management solutions and platforms.
  • Integrate metadata management solution with other data governance and data management systems.
  • Work with IT to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to metadata management solution.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure metadata management practices comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain metadata management documentation and training materials.
  • Generate regular reports on metadata quality, usage, and compliance.
  • Participate in audits, and provide requested documentation.

Any other related duties as instructed by the superior or Head of Division from time to time.

 

Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Years of Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology field.
Proven experience in leading and managing metadata management initiatives.
Familiar with metadata management tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica Metadata Manager).
Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts.

Certifications in data governance or metadata management (e.g., CDMP, DAMA).
Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
Knowledge of industry-specific data standards and regulations.
